About ChatGPT Trade
The story behind our AI-powered financial literacy platform β who we are, why we started, and how we help UK residents build lasting financial confidence.
Founded on a Simple Observation
ChatGPT Trade began in 2024 when our founding team β a mix of financial educators, data analysts, and software engineers β noticed a persistent problem. Most personal finance content available online fell into one of two camps: generic advice that ignored UK-specific regulations, or thinly disguised product pitches masquerading as guidance.
We saw a gap for something more methodical. A platform that applied artificial intelligence to aggregate UK consumer spending data, extracted genuine patterns, and translated those patterns into practical, educational content anyone could understand. Not a robo-adviser. Not a trading signal service. An educational partner that treated readers as intelligent adults capable of making their own decisions β once armed with the right knowledge.
Eighteen months later, we've published over 50 guides covering budgeting fundamentals, ISA strategy, pension auto-enrolment thresholds, energy-switching timing, and the unglamorous but essential mechanics of household cash flow management. Every piece is reviewed by at least two team members with relevant qualifications, and every piece carries the same clear disclaimer: we are not financial advisers.
Our registered office sits on Queen Victoria Street in the City of London β a deliberate choice to be near the financial institutions whose products we review, so we can attend briefings, conferences, and regulatory updates first-hand. We believe proximity to the industry produces better educational content than writing from the sidelines.
Education First, Always
Our mission is to raise financial literacy across the United Kingdom by combining AI-driven data analysis with clear, jargon-free educational content β so every household can make better-informed financial decisions independently.
Transparency
Every guide states its limitations upfront. We disclose when content is illustrative versus based on verified data, and we never disguise promotional material as editorial.
Accessibility
Financial education should be available regardless of background. Our core guides are free, written in plain English, and structured using spaced-repetition principles so concepts stick.
UK Focus
From Ofgem cap cycles and HMRC tax codes to ISA transfer rules and pension annual allowances β every guide is calibrated for the UK regulatory landscape, not repurposed US content.
The People Behind the Platform
A small, focused team of financial educators, data specialists, and content architects.
Daniel H.
Founder & Lead Content Director
(CeMAP, DipPFS)
Daniel spent 9 years in retail banking compliance before pivoting to financial education in 2021. He specialises in translating dense FCA guidance notes into language that doesn't require a law degree to parse. His particular obsession is pension transfer values β he's mapped the mechanics of DB-to-DC transfers across every major UK provider. Outside work, he runs a monthly quiz night in Bermondsey that, to his mild embarrassment, frequently features questions about compound interest.
Priya R.
Head of Data & AI Analysis
(MSc Data Science, UCL)
Priya joined from a fintech startup where she built anomaly detection models for payment fraud. At ChatGPT Trade, she leads the AI layer that processes anonymised UK consumer spending data to surface practical budgeting insights. She's known internally for insisting that every statistical claim in our guides includes its confidence interval β a habit that makes the content more trustworthy, if occasionally more verbose. She holds 6 years of applied machine learning experience across financial services.
Marcus W.
Education & Curriculum Lead
(PGCE, MA Education)
Marcus taught economics and business studies at secondary level for 7 years before moving into adult education. He structures our guides using Bloom's taxonomy and spaced-repetition frameworks, ensuring that complex topics like mortgage amortisation schedules or salary sacrifice pension contributions are introduced incrementally. He's the team's summative-assessment architect, building the checklists readers use to measure their own progress. His students used to call him "the spreadsheet whisperer" β a title he's quietly proud of.
How We Build Educational Content
Every guide follows a painstaking four-stage process, from data gathering through to publication.
-
01
Data Gathering
Our AI layer processes anonymised, aggregate UK consumer spending data β sourced from publicly available ONS statistics, Ofgem price cap announcements, and HMRC rate publications. We cross-reference multiple data sets to identify spending patterns that recur across income brackets and regions, ensuring our insights reflect genuine UK household behaviour rather than a single narrow demographic.
-
02
Expert Drafting
Each guide is drafted by a team member with relevant qualifications β DipPFS for investment-education content, CeMAP for mortgage-related topics, PGCE for curriculum structure. We aim for a reading level of approximately Year 11 β sophisticated enough to respect the reader, accessible enough to include those without a finance background. Technical terms like "amortisation" or "annual allowance taper" are defined on first use.
-
03
Peer Review
A second qualified team member reviews every guide for factual accuracy, regulatory compliance, and clarity. We also run a "jargon audit" β any sentence that a non-specialist beta reader flags as confusing is rewritten. This process adds 3β5 working days to our publication timeline, but the additional scrutiny is non-negotiable.
-
04
Publish & Maintain
Published guides aren't static. We set calendar reminders to revisit content whenever underlying regulatory changes occur β the annual ISA allowance review each April, Ofgem cap updates each quarter, HMRC threshold announcements each Autumn Statement. Outdated guides are either updated in-place with a visible "Last Updated" date or retired entirely if the landscape has shifted beyond a reasonable revision.
